This past week, Dom & Tom proudly completed its first official foray into the world of teaching in Chicago!

D&T Creative Director Paul Petrowsky and Helper Monkey/Account Executive Tim Daly co-taught an iOS Design class for Chicago's professional design community. Hosted by Digital Bootcamp, and drawing on Paul's extensive knowledge of iOS design principles, the class highlighted the Apple Human Interface Guidelines from both a technical design perspective and a UI/UX perspective.

Topics covered included:

- Standard GUI Elements: Introduction to and in-depth look at the purpose, placement, and best practices behind the GUI elements that iOS users see every day!

- iPhone vs iPad: Discussion about how to design for not only two different device sizes, but for two unique user interfaces and user experiences. Design your app to pop no matter what iOS device your customer is using!

- What's Hot: A design- and user experience-oriented discussion of some of the most popular apps in the iTunes store, as well as a sneak peek at some D&T originals!

- App Icon Creation: First impressions are important, and a good icon is better than a handshake and a smile! Learn how to create an eye-catching icon that will entice users and also conform to Apple's best practices guidelines.

So that settles it, Chicago... Dom & Tom is here to stay! We had a lot of fun and met some amazing new people - stay tuned for details on future classes, and big thanks to all who came out.
